Bob Nourse is an entrepreneur and professional investor in new and early stage companies.
Bob founded The Bombay Company of Canada , with its first store in Toronto, in 1980. Under his leadership, the company grew to become a publicly-traded firm on the New York Stock Exchange, with almost 450 stores and 6,000 employees throughout North America. INC. magazine called Bombay “America’s Hottest Company” when it named Bob as its “Entrepreneur of the Year” in 1993. He is also a past recipient of the Ivey Business Leader Award in Canada.
Bob’s early career was as a professor at Ivey Business School and Harvard Business School, then later as a Vice President and Director of the Canadian private equity firm, Venturetek International. In his own words, Bob “failed retirement” after leaving Bombay in 1996 and, for the past 13 years, has been active as an investor in, and advisor to, numerous early stage ventures in both the United States and Canada. Bob holds a BASc. in Electrical Engineering from Queen’s University, an MBA from Ivey and a doctorate from Harvard Business School. He lives in Santa Barbara, CA.
